Amcor is undertaking a national water giving project, which will involve harvesting rain water from the roof at manufacturing sites, and giving this water to the local community. This is a community engagement program and therefore Amcor employees and community groups are engaged in a collaborative process to determine how the collected water will be used at the local level to support water conservation.
Amcor aims to build strong community partnerships through the water giving project by working with the local councils and other not for profit organisations close to our manufacturing sites. A partnership with the local water company is also an integral part of this program.
This project has been developed in recognition of the vital role that Amcor can play in engaging both employees and the local community in a project that will collect and distribute water, promote environmental sustainability and improve community wellbeing.
The water giving project was launched on 28 May 2008 at Amcor Flexibles (Converting) in Moorabbin, Victoria, Australia.
The water giving project will be implemented in Amcor manufacturing sites across Australia over the next five years.
