Employees in Australia are given the opportunity to donate to four partner charities. These charities were chosen based on an employee survey.
The Cancer Council is the leading cancer charity in Australia, investing millions of dollars annually into beating the disease that will directly affect one in three Australians.
This year, around 90,000 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer and this is expected to rise to more than 115,000 annually by 2011.
The Cancer Council provides assistance through up-to-date information and support for cancer patients, their families and carers. We invest in extensive, quality research and in awareness campaigns to educate people about the prevention and early detection of cancer when it may be easier to treat.
More than 60% of cancer patients are now successfully treated compared to 25% some 60 years ago – but there is still more to be done.

For 40 years, the Australian Conservation Foundation has been a strong voice for the environment by engaging in research, consultation, education and partnerships with the community, business and government.
One of ACF’s conservation programs focuses on tackling climate change and protecting the future of endangered species. Since 2001, some 1,350 scientists from 95 countries concluded that up to 30% of the world’s species are in danger of going extinct by 2050 unless action to reduce greenhouse pollution is addressed.
To date, ACF has produced and distributed over 40,000 ‘Climate Change Action Kits’ which provide practical ways to reduce our greenhouse emissions.

Each year more than 33,000 volunteer surf lifesavers work hard to help keep our beaches safe.
Consider these remarkable facts and you’ll understand the challenges they face annually:
To respond to any urgent situation, our lifesavers need intensive training and modern, reliable equipment – for example, inflatable rescue boats, rescue boards, emergency kits and oxygen bottles.

The Salvation Army is one of the largest providers of social welfare to the Australian community, assisting more than one million people every year.
In a typical week, ‘the Salvos’ will provide people in need with 100,000 meals and over 5,000 food vouchers. They will distribute hundreds of blankets, provide 5,000 beds and place more than 1,000 people in jobs. They will offer refuge to 500 victims of abuse, assist 1,000 people in the prison and court system and counsel 500 people with addictions.
More recently, the Salvos have been offering crisis support to families affected by the worsening drought conditions across Australia. As part of their Drought Relief Program, the Salvo’s efforts have ensured the provision of drinking water, household products and financial support to farmers, their families and communities in drought affected areas.
