'Squeeze' wins Amcor Flexibles Packaging Design Prize

After a full day judging event and interviews conducted with three finalists, Pierre Collard from university ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels was rewarded the Amcor Flexibles Packaging Design Prize for his entry 'Squeeze'.

11 May, 2009:  'Squeeze' responds in a simple but very creative way to the competition brief for the confectionery category. By assembling two elliptic shapes, Pierre created an M&M's® pack that lies perfectly in the consumers' hands. The unique opening mechanism enables easy access to the chocolates. The packaging format engages consumers and allows sharing of the products without compromising on hygiene.

The judging panel, which consisted of Laurent Hérault and Dennis van Eeten from Mars, Mary
Godfrey from Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate, Niels Østergaard from Arla Foods as well as representatives of Amcor Flexibles, was impressed by the very innovative concept. They commented: "The design is new and fresh and there is nothing similar available on the market."

"This year's winning entry responds to the design brief and current consumer trends as Pierre's 'Squeeze' pack enables eating on the go, is recloseable and initiates sharing of the chocolates
with family and friends. We were very impressed by Pierre's design talent and I am convinced
that he will add significant value to both our customers and our own innovative packaging when
he commences his 12 month work placement as the competition prize," commented Andrew Parker, Market Director at Amcor Flexibles.
