In August 2009, Amcor submitted a binding offer to purchase parts of the Alcan Packaging business from Rio Tinto. Amcor is pleased to inform its suppliers that the acquisition has now been completed.

The businesses which Amcor has acquired includes: 

• Alcan Packaging Global Pharmaceutical;
• Alcan Packaging Food Europe;
• Alcan Packaging Food Asia; and
• Alcan Packaging Global Tobacco. 

The new Amcor

It is an exciting time for both Amcor and the acquired Alcan Packaging businesses. Amcor is well positioned financially for the acquisition of parts of Alcan Packaging, with the improvements from the “The Way Forward”, a get-fit program, implemented over the past four years.

Our intent is to strengthen our offering and become an even better business partner that our customers can rely on for the long term. The combined company will expand our range of products and increase our geographic coverage. 

Amcor will continue its commitment to the packaging industry and to offering the best value proposition for its customers. Suppliers to the new Amcor will have many opportunities to partner with our combined company.

Continuing our commitment to offering world-class packaging products and services

Until further notice, suppliers should continue to focus on business as usual with both the historic Amcor and Alcan Packaging businesses and support the new Amcor to deliver world-class packaging. Current procurement contacts at the historic companies can be contacted for business related queries.

The new organisation will be undertaking an integration process to ensure that we combine the best of both companies. As an organisational structure for procurement is put into place, long term points of contact will be communicated directly with you as soon as possible.
