In August 2009, Amcor submitted a binding offer to purchase parts of the Alcan Packaging business from Rio Tinto. Amcor is pleased to inform its customers that the acquisition has now been completed.

The businesses which Amcor has acquired includes:

• Alcan Packaging Global Pharmaceutical;
• Alcan Packaging Food Europe;
• Alcan Packaging Food Asia; and
• Alcan Packaging Global Tobacco. 

The new Amcor

It is an exciting time for both Amcor and the acquired Alcan Packaging businesses. Amcor is well positioned financially for the acquisition of parts of Alcan Packaging, with the improvements from the “The Way Forward”, a get-fit program, implemented over the past four years. Our intent is to strengthen our offering and become an even better business partner that our customers can rely on for the long term.
